Matthew, I love your dancing analogy. I was in a relationship for almost 30 years that was depressing and dysfunctional at best (we met when I was 17). A series of fortunate events woke me out of my haze and I somehow found you and your brilliant but accessible work. I never had “danced” before. With your guidance, I met a man who is now a partner to me in every way. With him, I was able to start to dance — metaphorically speaking. We met each other where we were. And then…we took an actual first dancing lesson together, something we had both wanted to learn but had never done. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. In many ways you saved my life…or at least a tremendous amount of additional pain and suffering. I will always be profoundly grateful for your guidance and teachings. Your Entire book is underlined. :))

  3. Emma says:

What an amazing woman! Just like my Grandma- she was 95 when I saw her again after 31 years. She was far from frail, she got up at 5:30am every morning (even though the ladies in the nursing home laughed at her), she was the matriarch of the family on Dad’s side, and would boss all her children around and demand that they take her out here, there and everywhere. Her first words to me were “So I bet you thought I was some frail little thing, didn’t you?” She had so much energy and enthusiasm for life, and was so very stubborn! What amazed me most was that at 95, she had a boyfriend of 30 years, who was 20 years younger than her and adored her!!! When I asked Dad why Alfred wasn’t in the same nursing home as Grandma, he said “He wouldn’t survive a week. His heart would give out. She is so demanding on him physically and intimately!”. Grandma died a couple of months before she turned 100, and she only slowed down 6 months before she died! I’m so grateful to have met up with her again and gotten to know her. I now know where my energy, enthusiasm, youthful looks- and stubbornness comes from, and I hope to continue to look and feel younger like she did- such a wonderful genetic inheritance! I’m 47 and get looks of interest from 18-35 year olds, as well as men my own age and older. One man I danced with who was in his 70’s said to me that “if he had been 35 years younger, he would be chasing me”. Thanks so much for your videos, advice and programs- I’ve just signed up for one of them. I’ve always been very shy, but now I’ve taken up ballroom dancing again and I’m learning so much from you, Matthew, that I feel confident and I’m not shy anymore. I know that the next half of my life will be AWESOME!! I’ve already started planning out the next 3 months of it, just as you have suggested!!

  5. Sendi says:

Matthew, thank you for being willing to impart into us. That was the most beautiful and helpful video for me. “Youthful, baby steps, go outside, enjoy life…” I really don’t have to be afraid. I can be the best me and enjoy my journey.

  6. Roze says:

I really like your communication style, wisdoms and witty sense of humour and also how up to date and night energy your approach is overall keep up the great work by the way ;) xo

  7. Roze says:

I am glad you seem to address those outside the previously focused on 24-34 now :)) and I am glad that other than you one old video about age you have some other (more positive) reference made about age.

Here’s hoping we will one day live in a world that is not so focused on useless numbers like “age”!

Honestly!! Why is it that we can’t come up with a card that says we are over 21 and that’s it :) that’s the only thing we need to know about each other’s age and the only ID card we need :)

  8. Dale says:

I love this, Matthew you are such a sweetheart you made that ladies night, and it’s so great that she is still wanting to grow and improve herself.
Please come and do a retreat in New Zealand!!

  9. Ellen says:

  10. Candy Kaiser says:

  11. Holly says:

    You make a difference Matthew!

  12. Wednesday says:

Loved this one! I am a fairly young widow and I have been watching your videos. It’s been about a year and a half since he passed. I am starting to think that maybe I won’t stay single the rest of my life. You are right everything is so different! We were married for almost 22 years and you have really helped me to think about what I do want in a man and that’s it’s okay if i want to go slow. To have the confidence to ask for what I need from others and you know what the response has been good! It continues to make me more confident. So thank you for the educational piece and for the great attitude you have about life. Best wishes.

    • anne says:

Thank you, Wednesday, for saying the “w word” … widow. I am also a middleaged woman who lost her husband of over 20 years. I’ve been watching Matthew’s videos just to encourage me to get out of my shell, talk to more people, try something new. I’m far from dating again, but I have started to smile at people when I get coffee. :-)

The strangest thing about “starting over” for me is that when I met my husband I was in my 20s. A lot of the ideas I have about what I want in a man or how I like to spend time with someone are based on a much younger version of myself — maybe a more insecure version, a less certain version. I’m hoping that when I get back into dating, I will be able to use my wisdom as an older woman and Matthew’s inspiration to make the kind of life I truly want.

  13. Anon says:

It’s so easy to think that there is something wrong with you because you haven’t ‘found your lobster’ by the time you are my age (fans of the TV show Friends will know what i am on about). How do you silence the voices in your head telling you that if you haven’t met ‘him’ by now, then he might just not exist. And how to do you fully engage with the dating scene when you sometimes feel you are viewed as a desperate middle aged woman?

  14. Geneva Atkins Jungman says:

What a wonderful Sunday video Matt…can’t wait to do some dancing of my own very soon. See you all in May!!

  15. Rowan says:

    I love that! <3

  16. Kevin says:

Asking a girl I really like that I met through a priest was a baby step for me, but she rejected it saying that she didn’t feel it would be appropriate right now.

  17. Deanna Shank says:

This is one of my favorite videos ever!

  18. Lynda says:

Just loved it! Very inspirational and poignant, you’re such a blessing to so many women. :)

  19. Lesli says:

That has to be the best video I have experienced with you Mathew Hussy…good on you, mate!

  20. Vivien J Prince says:

I took dancing lessons (I am not bad!) but very uncomfortable with a social scene of women sitting round a room waiting to dance. I have tried it, but…..I am spread on three continents. I live in the USA where I do not own property. I have property on two other continents. Meeting a class of worldly men who can understand my wish to narrow down to one continent, is proving impossible. They “assume” I am selling; to go where to what? Who I meet, where, needs to happen before I give up what I have? I have struggled with extreme heartbreak for over a year, and really trying to find a way forward. I just don’t know how to love again? I don’t know how to behave with men any more? I am a very young, active, petite, 70.

  21. Marta says:

I’m bawling here! This story touched me so deeply…. this is me. I’m slow dancing right now, in life, mostly terrified of making mistakes, but still putting myself out there. At 40 something years of age I have a teen aged heart. And I refuse to let fear dictate my life. You inspire me, Matt. Even though I do not have the money to do your retreat right now I know without a doubt that I will. Soon!! Because I see the value in what you do. I can feel it in my soul. Every week in every video you put out there for free… Thank you for having the courage to do what you do! ❤️

  22. Carola Backlund says:

Thank you Matthew for reminding us that age is just a number. It’s never to late to change and learning new things and living life with love and laughter.

  23. Emily says:

Awww. Love, love, love this lady!

  24. Gale says:

Thank you Matt for just being YOU! I Love you.

  25. Taryn says:

Wonderful loving kind energy from Matthew as always that makes anyone realize life is short so love yourself!

  26. Julie MacKenzie says:

Love you Matthew! This hit home today…Going through some issues at work right now…;) Thanks for the pep talk! Hugs! Keep the videos coming…<3

  27. Mariana Valente says:

Thanks Mathew and team for everything you have done until now. I couldn’t make to the program, so I can have room for other things in my life that you helped me to discover in the retreat and with your videos. I’ve met the woman in this video and her daughter the first time she came to the retreat (second of the daughter), and I’m following their exemple to bring my mom! One day, we will make it! :)

  28. Angelica says:

    Good one!

  29. A. says:

    “When did you stop dancing?”

    Great question. Thanks, Matthew!

  30. Elke says:

Another example of a wonderful amazing woman. Thank you for encouriging our hearts with all these deep going videos.
I’ll restart my dancing “career” again. Was on stage for 10 years and really thought I’d be too old.
    Thank you
    X Elke Evelyn Ruth

  31. Alexander says:

All the info that you’ve put out has been pretty pivotal in helping me better understand how a woman has to dance in the dating field.

But, my favorite quote to date that I’ve been rehashing is when you said “suicide is boring”. There are moments where I find myself saying that in the lowest of times lately and those three little words have helped flip around my perspective entirely. Thanks for inspiring and providing amazing content in a genuine way.

  32. Meshendia says:

Really great video- dancing in every area of life! Such a press on an emotional button for me. Congrats on getting through the week.
