Fall in Love With Your Life [Love the Journey: Part 2]

I get asked a lot of tough questions – from how to attract amazing guys, to why they disappear, to what say to get a commitment – and after coaching women for years, I have no trouble answering them…

But there is one question that is, surprisingly, the toughest of all for me to answer: “Where do you live?”

With all of the traveling I do for my live tour, I’m rarely in the same city for a week at a time.

But no matter where in the world I am, the moment I step on stage to coach thousands of women like you, I’m HOME.

And that’s what happiness is all about, isn’t it? Loving your life right where you are…

This week’s video blog is the second part of my mini-documentary series, “Love the Journey.” In it, I take you with me to New York City as I prepare for my live event there.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments! x

  • Love, love, love this! Very real. You are such a nice man, Matthew – with good values, vision and observations in life:) A happy sunday indeed. Thank you!

  • Dear Matt,

A few things struck me about this video…

First off, let me say, I am loving the ‘Love the Journey’ videos. I have always been the kind of person to ask, “what is going on behind the scenes?” I am a bit of a commentary junkie. Just a small glance in brings a richness, and authenticity to your character, and this whole process. Seeing you struggling, and irritated, makes seeing the polished and collected version of you so much better. It deepens your relatability.

I also want to comment again on your family. It warms my heart to see how much you all love, and support, each other. You all seem to fun and sassy – a joy to be around, I am sure. The more I see of them, the more I fall in love with them. I believe those relationships are crucial to happiness along the journey.

The last bit that I want to say is, “Yes! Jamie”!!! A friend invited me to see Jamie at a small venue a couple of years ago, and he blew me away. He was hands down one of the best performers I have ever seen. If someone could sell that man’s energy, they would make a fortune! He is incredible, and I talk about that performance on the hill often. What makes him one of your idols?

Thank you for sharing, and being so transparent with the world. You are truly a force of nature, Fussy Hussey! ;)

    Warmly,
    Arianna

  • Very much agree that happiness is enjoying those moments in life, whichever point in life you are at and enjoying those little moments, the puppy in the window, the way you like your tea made.

It’s about falling in love with your life, making sure you find in yourself what you seek for in your partner– that to me is a wonderful lesson Hussey.

  • Hi Matt!

I started watching your YouTube videos at the point in my life when everybody was keep asking me “why are you still single?”. Obviously each time this happened I felt like there was something wrong with me.

Thanks to your videos I realized that being in a relationship is not a measure of success. They key to success is to have a happy life and I’m having one, no matter what other people say.

I totally love the journey and love your inspiring videos!

PS. Maybe you’ll travel with your coaching events to Poland? i’d love to see it live.

  • You’ve made me realize I too often look to others to tell me how to be rather than me telling me how to be. I loved your 50 Shades of Earl Grey, btw. I laughed out loud (truly!) the whole time. Genius, is what it is! Thank you, Matthew, for being you.

  • Oh ,my god, you made me laugh so much at the beginning… Do you really tell people that you don’t know where you live? And with that tone? :-) ( I don’t mean that in a bad way… that would actually get me curious to know more about it… while making me laugh too)

Cartoons look like the perfect way to disconnect your mind from worry mode. :-) I love watching cartoons too! Though don’t watch them that often.

Your mum looks like a wonderful woman!

Loved seeing more of you and your personal journey & challenges!

    Much love to you, Noelie

  • Hi
Just wanted to say, this is genuinely one of my favourite videos out of the ones you have made. It shows you are human.

  • I was impressed that you touched on the dips in this video. One thing that I’ve realized about truly happy people and couples is that they have negative experiences and feeling, but they deal with it efficiently and always rebound back to happiness. They don’t indulge and wallop in the negative, rather they work through it and get back to loving life and each other. When I describe the kind of relationships that I want, I talk about somebody who loves me through the good AND the bad, the ups AND downs. Somebody who acts loving toward me even when they might not be feeling it because they know that if they act that way, then that feeling will come back that much faster. When I’m down or bummed or feeling meh, I go do something that makes me happy, even though I don’t feel that way at that moment. Why? Because I know that the happy feeling will return that much faster. Well done Fusy Hussey

  • We should definitely love life right where we are. I just read what I think is a lovely line, “the present is all you really have to deal with”.
New York is a great place, my little boy is saving up to go there. Not put off by his difficulties in flying and the constant pain, he has found out by looking on the Internet, that you can cruise there and back. He has planned the trip down to the last detail and was so cross the other day he wasn’t born American as they have all the best stuff there! His friends are happy with going to Legoland.
How funny, I too saw a little old shop on a cobbled street and thought how romantic it would be to live there.
Thank you for sharing your journey, it’s definitely not without a lot of pressure for you. You handle it all amazingly well, it’s inspirational.

ps I love my Nespresso, not meaning to advertise, but I’ve honestly never looked back, lol.

  • Great video! Part 2 has really shown us the incredible friendship and working relationship you and Jameson have together. With each video you’ve made since working together I have noticed this connection shining through even brighter. This is truly special.

Thank you for reminding us all to “Love the Journey” along the way. So often, we forget to, or simply don’t, celebrate the small wins, reflect on the hard times, enjoy the quiet and modest moments, and recognize it all as one incredible ride.

    Big hugs X

  • I believe falling in love with your life is very important. It not only solidifies my belief in myself but shows others around me that I truly care for myself. The problem for me is I still am scared to even try to look for someone in fear of getting my heart crushed and hurt again after so many times. Am I meant to be alone? And I am horrible at making friends even with an outgoing personality.
It is nice to know others get giddy and nervous meeting their hero’s or idols. If I ever had a chance to meet Gordon Ramsay I think I would laugh then cry.
Kudos to you on your journey it helps us connect with you on ours.

  • Matt maybe you could answer the question “where do you live?” with “I live whereever the work is”. Henry Cavill did this in an interview and worked really well. What do you think?

  • Matt, thanks to your advise and positive outlook in life, I am now in a healthy beautiful relationship. From being confused and always in bad relationships to the day I signed up and receiving a phone call from Raj, you and your team have inspired me. I found myself again. Cannot wait to attend your seminars.

  • Matthew (and team),

“Love the Journey” is such a treat for us, thank you. Part 1 and 2 are just awesome to watch. Jamieson filmed it beautifully and the videos are so well done!

I discovered Get the Guy through my mother after she heard you speaking on the radio two years ago. I am a 22 year old student living in Toronto, and to this day I still reread your book, follow this blog, watch your Youtube videos, and follow you on other forms of media. After watching this series, I felt so inspired and realized my first comment was long overdue.

I just want to say thank you. You really, really are an inspiration and one of MY idols. Your book, videos and the posts on this website (Stephen is extraordinary!!) continue to change my life. You have been one of my biggest influences by helping me GROW and helping me love myself for who I am. What really strikes me is how truly authentic you are in the videos. It doesn’t feel like you are just selling something for money. I see that you truly believe in who you are and what you say, and for that reason (and because it works!) I keep coming back and putting your advice into action. You have a life-long supporter here, and I will continue to spread the word about your company.

Thank you for not being “too cool for school”. It makes me feel like I can trust you. Also, only you could talk about a button shop and make it entertaining…

See you at the next Toronto show!

  • Yup, Sexy Sweaty Girl in the white top, dark hair, crazy arms, at O2. Women; if you haven’t gone to an event yet, please just f@*%ing do it!

  • I travelled a great deal around the world with my job in IT for over 20 years. I always know where home is even I have 2 homes, one in Hong Kong (where my family is) and another in London (where my mail go to and always glad to be back there). I like my job (most of the time) because I am meeting new people, new challenges all the time and I embrace changes. I feel I was there to help people to do their job in better ways (process) with better tools (system). Often I get very tired with insane jetlag, long hours, came across business champions who do not want change but only see it as a corporate decision for me to be there. They will sat through workshops, training and meetings without real participation. So let alone hoping they will lead their teams to learn and make use of their new tools. So there are a lot of follow up sessions, conference calls to push them to the direction of ‘greater good’. It is the challenge to make business teams to work closer and open their eyes to the bigger picture makes my job enjoyable. And a great deal of it is also pain and frustration. I tried not to let go of trying. This is the part I love about my life journey.

  • Hello Matt & best mate Jameson,

I normally do not post online for these things, but I LOVED this piece for the candid, vulnerable & laugh out loud moments.

Not long before stumbling across your facebook page, I randomly bought a book based solely on the cover. This video reminds me of Daring Greatly’s reference to Theodore Roosevelt’s quote: ” It is not the critic who counts…”

Despite the trials, tribulations, please know that your advice invaluable. It is one thing to possess EQ, but is amazing and informative to watch how you apply/mold it to speak to an individual and reach others on a broad scale. Behavior/introspection are the hardest things to learn/remake. You and your family are changing lives. So thank you for being genuine and sharing your journey! And, please catch some shut eye!

    Take care,
    K

P.S. If you release 50 shades of Hussey, it is bound to produce many smiles and rolls of laughter.
