  • I really want to thank you for this video. I have had a huge block over sorting loads of stuff out and I know it’s holding me back – I have been doing it little by little, really slowly over the months but I have had a block about the last bit I’ve been so stuck over it and going over all the thought processes in your video looking at it all every day. I know it’s keeping me stuck in other areas of my life too. So I watched your video and it really resonated so i have spent today sorting it all out – I was so miserable doing it, it felt so ridiculously hard and I didn’t understand why, I have practically spent the day working with tears of frustration, but I kept at it all day. I haven’t quite finished but I have made SO much progress and the rest feels like it will be much easier – most importantly I feel like a huge space has been freed up in my head. I think I’ll have to watch your video again next weekend. to get me to finish it off. That was a bit long, but I just want you to know that this video might just have changed my life quite a lot. Thank you

  • Thank you for this video. Recently, I took a class online to become a court reporter. I didn’t do so well for various reasons and was dropped from the course. What I have been putting off is sending the steno machine back to the school. It has been a block in my head because the machine is a visual reminder of a failure to a certain degree. On the more positive side, I did try to do something else with my career but it wasn’t meant to be right here right now. Sometimes life doesn’t go the way we plan and it goes the way its meant to be. So, in the morning, I will go to the post office and return that miserable monster reminder machine in the mail and back to the school. RIP steno machine. I’m getting my Sh*t done.

  • All my stuff on the to-do list are not the little things, they are huge-priority tasks… which I have the required talents and experience to do, but still I procrastinate… thinking I can’t do it, I’ll suck, People won’t be happy with it… yeah let’s just get the thing done already.
PS: Would really help if you did a video on clearing out the ‘losers’ in your life… you know? People/Friends who give you way too much meaningless bullshit and drama that ultimately just distracts you from finding that peace/harmoney/balance in your life. I have TOO much friends like these, and its frustrating me to the point of ANGER and DEPRESSION. What do I do? I’m very motivated and driven by myself, but these friends just bring me way too much uncertainty that I don’t want in my life anymore. Pls help Matthew??

    1. Tasneem Daniels when I wanted to get rid of the people/friends who added drama and b.s. I did by just letting them go/dropping them. I slowly stopped going to places where they were. Slowly stopped talking to them about my life and kept it more general. If you have to make a list of how you feel when you’re around them and how you feel when you’re not around them. I also though about my friends who didn’t have the drama/b.s. and hung out with them. Yes I still see some of my friends who had the drama all the time. I keep the conversation general and short though. Hope this helps a little

  • Hey Matthew and the gettheguy team,
I loved this video, I actually started getting some shit on my to-do-list done when I saw it.
One more shit that I still want to do and it’s been a while I’m postponing is a conversation with my boyfriend.
I actually wanted to ask you to give some advice on it: The situation is that we’ve been together for a couple of month and everything’s going great, smooth, of course sometimes with arguments. The only thing that I still doubt about is his “drinking habits” and if I could be compatible with that. I don’t like going to bed with a guy who smells like alcohol and it turns me off (in addition, I’m personally not a fan of alcohol). I guess this is an important part of life especially for guys. How to address and communicate this issue? I don’t want any of us to be hurt or disrespected in this conversation and I don’t know how to put it in the right way?!

  • I’ve now watched this twice and plan to play it when I need a get moving motivational speech in the morning. I sent a couple small business texts, emails, and finally rescheduled an appointment that probably took a minute and a half. You said something about how when we don’t accomplish these small tasks they become splinters that “erode our confidence” over time. Very true and appreciate the way you explained that.

  • Hi Matthew,

I watched the video yesterday morning (Sunday) at 6:30 am. Instead of staying in bed, I worked on the book outline I placed to the side several months ago. After three hours, I got dressed, drove into the city, and found three different places to write for a few hours each. I met seven new people, had a bit of a flirt with two of them, and asked one man for his number and a cup of coffee. Yes, I was brushed off. Yes, I was more than a bit disappointed about the rejection. However, I am still marveling at the amount of work I finished that afternoon.

When I reached my book writing quota, I went back to my place, cleaned house a bit, finished a few work tasks, and rounded out the evening by completing a knitting project I had nearly given up finishing.

Overall, it was a rewarding day. I need to have more days like that, but hopefully with more connection and less rejection.

Thanks for the kick in the ass.

  • Hey, so I sent the text I had put off thanks to you. Now next one I was going to put off was to tell you ” Matthew you look even hotter than usual when your passionate about something!”

  • Love, love the video. It’s to funny especially the part where you blip out the curse word. I watched thinking that I would get some great advice for getting myself going to do stuff. Instead it was just basically a get off your ass and do it thing. Still awesome though. I think within the daily grind that is life we forget that not everything has to be a certain way. Therefore a lot of times stuff doesn’t get done. In the example Matthew gave us he reminds us that one little thing can just start you on your task. Can’t wait until June to see Matthew and his team in action, in person on the retreat. As always Matthew keeps it real. The fan light was a plus. I’m still laughing too.

  • Thanks Matt!!

Your video gave me the final push for getting started. I was feeling stuck in a rut and a bit discouraged.
It was a rainy day, horrible weather, but I got dressed, and finally decided to start my rock classes, which I had been putting off for a long time.
I had a great time, laughed and enjoyed the class a lot!! I couldn´t believe that I was finally doing it!!

Thanks again for your positive message!!

    Love

    Maria

  • Dear Matt,

I am one of those followers who usually never comments but watches everything you put out. Yes, I have the ‘I sit in the back of the classroom’ syndrome.

However, after watching this particular video I decided it was time. Time to be less of a perfectionist about things.

You gave me the courage to finally post a Sam Smith cover I had recorded online.. My hesitation had always been ‘no, it’s not perfect enough!’ After getting so many positive messages in return – I couldn’t sit back and not thank you. SO – thank you, Matthew!

    All the best,
    Lusine

  • The only thing I could focus on this whole video was Matts behind in the mirror. … maybe also something about a pencil and envelope. Please next time you do a back shot keep it fom the waist up. Or maybe not.
