How To Be Sexier And Smarter At The Same Time

Knowledge is one of the most attractive things we can have.

Sometimes knowledge comes in the form of what we know, other times in the form of things we can do and skills we have.

We live in a world where it’s become more necessary than ever to have eclectic knowledge and diverse skillsets.

Men are running out of ways to feel special

It’s not enough that we make money or have status, because women today already have these things.

We have to work a little harder to be interesting

We cannot afford NOT to be a Renaissance man or woman with a variety of skillsets, art forms and knowledge bases.

Knowledge and skill is a good look on anyone – as is curiosity which inevitably leads us to these things.

And attraction is sustained for longer periods of time when you’re able to keep surprising your partner.

Challenge:

Go and learn about or study something that you have no real need for. Just do something new.

When you’ve decided, leave a comment about the thing you’ve picked. Then come back and leave another at the end of the week to let me know how you’ve gotten on! Do you feel more interesting? Do you have a story because of it?

Be sure to let me know as you’ll be giving me ideas for what I can go on to do next myself!

  • Yes! been waiting for a LONG time to hear you speak Putonghua! You said it pretty fast and I haven’t had anyone to practice with in 2 years.

  • It makes me feel foolish when I hear practical advice that I hadn’t already thought of and it bothers me. You have been bothering me Matthew!lol. But for this particular video I’m pleased to say I’m way ahead of you lol. My problem is that I have too many hobbies! My goal has always been to be more well rounded. Ive studied chinese among other languages, Ive learned instruments, i sew, etc, etc. But it never crossed my mind that it was sexy. Sexy? I always did it for fun. Anyway, right now I just have to pick one to really hone my skill, so right now it’s art!

    1. I agree with you about making sure that you pick some things to really hone Jay. But trying a lot of things is a good start. Now that you have a breadth of experience with things, you’re next challenge is to practice talking about those things in conversation in an interesting way.

  • I’ve become more of a pro for offering relationship tips to my friends & it’s like magic to their ear. I’ve people wanting to hear what I’ve to say THANKS to Matthew’s energetic & enthusiasm! I’ve built up my skills based on years of learning all that I’ve and would love to be a relationship coach because of all I’ve learned from my virtual friend from England, so thanks a bunch for all the cool, amazing information that is like a boost of the most positive energy one can receive. I’m one of your BIGGEST fans & hope u visit the US and give a lecture here..Keep me posted :-) !!!!! Susan

      1. Hey there Matthew! Nice to hear from you and I am based out of Arizona, so I will miss you in LA. If you do have a workshop in AZ, I would be thrilled to learn about it. Your work is needed in the AZ market, as far as I’m concerned, because it’s more challenging here (concerning relationships in general). I hear this all the time from so many friends who are so unhappy w/their personal relationships, it’s incredible)! Maybe because it’s sunny almost 365 days a year here or it’s something in the water!? In any event, thought I’d pass this info on to you, for your consideration, and in the meantime, I will continue to use all your great information to help whoever is in need. Thanks again Matthew & best wishes to you in LA :-D Hugs, Susan

  • Matthew, inspired by this video I have done some research about my city Gdynia ( it might be a great topic to start at any place), to my surprise I’ve found a lot of information. One of them was about a priest from my area involved in killing Jerzy Popieluszko. I will defiantly follow your today’s advice and I shall feel much better about myself and hope other will notice :)

  • I have actually decided to learn something completely new, and that is to read the comments on here properly i.e. in chronological order instead of the wrong way round….I’m such a plonker, I thought I had crashed the system

  • thank you hero for this video. knowledge to me is a kind of adventure and fun I love it . my family call me crazy (that’s why I call myself kooky) I’m going to tell you why. After high school I went to Sana’a university in Yemen (it’s Arabian country , coz I’m Arabian girl) to study Accounting •but I had a crazy Professor at the last year( the 4th year). the crazy Professor gave me (f) for four times (that meant two more years) . it means I couldn’t graduate if I didn’t pass that exam. days and night I was crying .that meant two years of my life could gone for nothing. Then I stopped and asked myself why should I let a crazy person control my life . I’m the only one who control my life. then I decided that I have to learn something new . for the first year I started to learn English , but that wasn’t enough .so I started to take a diploma in( ET) . but that wasn’t enough too . so, I started to learn French . what I’m trying to say is in the one day I was learning English ,ET and French .it was fun. the second year after getting (F) again . I decided to learn drawing ,but again that wasn’t enough .so I started to learn how to play guitar . then after the two years of getting (f) I finally graduated. now I’m studying Psychology in another country • and I really love it , but that isn’t enough .so ,I’m learning Urdu language now .i’m sharing my knowledge to everyone i meet . coz i want to see them happy as i’m :D.
if I didn’t get (f) I wouldn’t discover this ( the universe is made for us ,to discover ourselves , to love ourselves before we love anyone , to make our dreams come true and to stay positive ). if we didn’t understand this then we will suffer.
forgive me my English is bad , but i’m doing my best.
    谢谢英雄

    1. You are such a special person. I am a Chistian and my faith has always helped me to heal from bad people or from a bad experience. You are doing great ! god bless you !

      1. thank you Mitze for seeing me as a special person .that means a lot to me. my love don’t care about the bad people or from bad experiences . what you have to care is how to make your bad experiences to great ones . let me tell you how. if you had a bad experience don’t start to ask( why it happened / why me/ when /where….) .what you have to do is ask yourself what is the solution .that makes you stop thinking about the problem and start thinking about the solution. it will save your time, and you will feel great. now about the bad people ,they are bad coz they are suffering from inside to outside . their suffering shouldn’t make feel bad (coz they treat you in bad way) ,but it should make you feel that you are stronger by understanding( that they are weak because of their suffering ). then you will forgive them not because for them but because for you . coz your time is precious , so you will live it with peace , love and happiness.
        and remember that
( the universe is made for us ,to discover ourselves , to love ourselves before we love anyone , to make our dreams come true and to stay positive ). if we didn’t understand this then we will suffer.

        1. Wow that’s brilliant Ingrid.

I’ve just gotten started on some podcasts and a iPad ap I downloaded yesterday, so maybe you, Matthew and myself should all check in a couple of months from now to make sure we are still sticking to it ;)

          How bout it Matt?

  • I was learning Spanish but I was tooo lazy I stop studying but after this video I will start again and after a week you will see me talking Spanish (few words) and thank you for your videos its great to get advises from a handsome guy like you :)

  • Matt: I have become obsessed with your advice and your videos! I’m reading “Get the Guy” right now and honestly wish you had been around doing this kind of thing 10 years ago (okay, so maybe you were, but you were in the UK and YouTube didn’t exist and ….) because I am learning and starting to apply so much of what you are teaching. And it’s a big step for me.
You have inspired me to become less of a wallflower, to say “yes” when invited anywhere, and to continue to improve my social life (and hopefully my love life!). Please keep doing what you are doing – your videos are amazing (including the bloopers/out takes with Jameson!) and you are amazing!!

  • Love this! I learned about this blind man who taught himself to literally see by using echolocation. He makes clicks in the back of his mouth and he can see and live a complete normal life. He even rides a mountain bike. In traffic! I think it is amazing.

  • Wow, Ioved this topic!! I think it is important to learn new things and gain new experiences. I feel so happy about myself after gaining new knowledge. I now know how to solve a rubik’s cube, I went to Barcelona for four months after my graduation, I went to Spain again last summer to improve my Spanish even more, I lived with a host family, I got to meet a lot o people and I visited some amazing places. I will always have these and other nice memories and all my experiences and my knowledge makes me a stronger and more interesting person. It’s such a shame that not many of my closest friends have done things like these. I for one will continue improving my Spanish and salsa skills! And I will continue travelling the world. Haha, sorry for ranting but I just so happy I have the courage to experience the world!

  • Hi Matt (and team),

I really do love this advice! I believe in constantly learning!! As you suggested, last week I decided to start learning some portuguese since I have so many brazilian friends. I completely agree about knowledge, it is the one thing that can not be taken away or stolen.

Recently, I started reading this book, “13 Things They Won’t Tell You”- which is brilliant!! It gives the top 13 tips from people in every profession, from bankers to identity thieves. It teaches you how to save money and live smarter.

On a side note, I have watched your whole online Get The Guy course and I have made some real changes! I changed up my friend group, which made a HUGE difference. I have this one friend how is an expert at meeting and dating men. I wish you could meet her, she has serious skill!

Also, you might chuckle, but I have been getting compliments on my pretend british accent from watching your videos so often over the years!

I love the regularity of your videos! Thanks you, Thank you!

    Caroline :)

  • Loved this video! I am currently working on improving my French and Japanese skills, and would love to some day take up Spanish, as well! One way I personally love gaining new knowledge is by TED Talks, as well. They’re such a great way to learn a new thing from a leading person in that field!

  • Great video! I completely agree and I’ve been doing this for almost my whole life.
Now I’m studying Estonian – btw. Did you know that Estonians invented Skype?

    1. Tere Martina! Kuidas läheb? Kuidas eestikeele õppimine edeneb? (Just in case you hadn’t got that far with your studies I asked you in Estonian…How are you? and How are your studies of Estonian going?)
Well, Martina, I was just reading through the comments to get more ideas to learn in the future and then my heart started beating a bit faster when I saw your post. Why?? It’s actually simple… Just because I am Estonian. So it’s just a pure delight to acknowledge that other people actually know what Estonia is and are fascinated about it? How/ why did you become interested?? What do you know about Estonia so far??
I do totally understand being in love with some other country and it’s culture… due to different reasons… I just LOVE UK and France and their cultures… I still reminisce dearly and with a lot of love those 4 Erasmus-student months in Toulouse, France. So I get it! See on suurepärane! (Translation: It’s amazing!)
Where are you from actually?? I’m just curious… AND Yes,Martina and Matt, Estonians did create SKYPE!!! And even though most of us personally had nothing to do with it, we obviously still are so very proud of it!! :)
      Edu Martina õpingutes!
      Take care! :)
      Ruthie

  • I’ve had a suspicious surge in friends and interested men since mentioning this new massage course I’m doing.

It was about the time I mentioned needing subjects to practise on.

They love a bit of the “oooh you’re so tense!”
