Nicely done Matt, no offence to the “French Maid” promoting lady sitting next to you, but you held your own as the voice of wisdom and reason!! Keep at it!

  2. neethuz says:

    Well said Matt :)
Beautiful way to make him more likely to respond to your needs. After all he will at least give it a shot coz it was his idea .darn cool ;)

  3. Faith says:

    Matt,

When I saw you in Chicago you went into this idea in much more detail—UNREQUITED LOVE. I was surprised at how upsetting this topic is for you. I now am a part of this club. The club of confident people who wants a person who adores them. I just wanted to say that I loved that you were spitting mad about this topic (I think you actually spit on the first row!) Thank you for trampling the Disney dream Matt and updating it. Be your best self and demand the best of others for yourself. Happy Sunday!

  4. Sherstyn says:

    Hi Matt,
I am so sorry that these women preferred to embrace and promote the drama and low self worth of women on that topic of unrequited love, rather than hear and acknowledge your serious and sound advice.
I am so sorry that they too could not hear you in the beginning when you were imparting wisdom on how to communicate a bad day with one’s partner.
Sadly, it just goes to show… you must not cast your pearls before swine. They will not appreciate them or you, and will trample them under.
All said, I appreciate your advice and seeing this makes me understand why so many women “think” that problems in their relationships are unsolvable.
Thank you for being a light in the darkness…
    Best,
    SC

  5. Lourdes says:

Hahaha, good job Matt…your advice is always based on being aware of your self worth, your value, and reality. I’m sorry but E. Jean’s advice was completely ridiculous…thank you for setting her straight with your common sense wisdom…”Women want what they can’t have” “Well, isn’t that a fine commentary on people’s self worth”.
    Brilliant!
“It’s all about the chase…” oh please lady….I’m not going to chase someone who doesn’t harbor the same feelings for me. Like you said Matt….a man with an EDGE. ;)

    xoxo

  6. Goldberry says:

Nice tips, Matt. I don’t think low self-esteem is the only reason for perpetuating unrequited love, though. I think people who are avoidant use it as a way to have a love interest or “relationship”, which gives them some thrill and connection, without actually taking the risk of having real intimacy with someone. Of course they are probably not doing this on purpose!! It’s a recreation of patterns of their childhood, probably with a distant parent. They feel more comfortable with that psychological distance than with someone who actually likes them and shows it…

  7. Marina Casadei says:

That’s why I love you Matt!!
    xxx

  8. Kailey says:

Goodness, I give you some serious credit for keeping your cool on that show! I completely agree with the idea that unrequited love is disgusting… and when you think about why so many of us find it to be romantic, it’s obvious that the media is responsible. TV shows and movies often romanticize one character admiring another from afar or relentlessly pursuing the disinterested until somehow they fall in love (because they were both just too scared to show their feelings, right?).

I know what it’s like to have my partner adore me, and I am not interested in anything less. Sure, I am disappointed when I meet rejection, but there’s no point in dwelling on those feelings. For those who say that there is something exciting about pursuing someone who might not want them, tell me this: If in fact, this person is interested, would you really want to be with someone who handles their feelings that way? Even the best outcome of this scenario (mutual attraction–which is incredibly unlikely) is just awful.

  9. Jill says:

I agree it is a self worth thing. I have too many friend guys and girls who would rather be in a crappy relationship then be single trying to find the person that fits. I hope that makes sense.
Also, Matt, when you get back to LA PLEASE let me cut your hair or at least style it. That’s all I’m gonna say.

  10. Susanne says:

“Who does not want to be a member of any club that will have you as a member?”

  13. Andrea says:

    Hey Matt!
First of all… well done! I’ve been working as a psychotherapist for 5 years now and even I have stuff to learn from you. You are quite insightful and definitely know what you’re talking about!
But there’s a problem. Lots of girls are NOT attracted to the guys that are right for them. I’m sure you know this very well. Even if you DO get the guy.. what next? You get him to commit, you get him to the altar… and then you find out that you made the wrong choice and are now into a very toxic relationship. I’m very curios to find out what’s your opinion on this. Maybe you talked about this already, in which case I apologize.
    Wish you well,
    Andrea

  14. Jaagii says:

Jesus, Mary, Jerome! EJ is nuts!

By the way, love the hair Matt :)

  15. Tammy says:

EJ is a nut! I think that every time I watch these segments. Matt, your advice continues to be very sound and I love how you carry yourself when the segments go kind of cray.

  16. Elaine says:

Wow Matt, I can see your face completely contort when you show you are disgusted with the idea of unrequited love. After hearing you explain the in-depth mechanics of it at your London GTG event, I am totally with you and can hear your voice – like who likes you!
As for – make him melt , thank you thank you. I needed your career advice the other day and now you have reminded me of this as I am about to meet someone for the first time after chatting online for a few weeks and I know I’m going to meet him after a stressful morning. I have my mental check list – be interested, what value do I bring, what’s my thing (I haven’t worked out a brand but it is developing – as I discover more and more values and principles that are genuinely important to me), and finally – be embarrassed and get nervous – it shows he’s been on my mind and this is important. After experiencing your retreat last year, this is the first time in my 35 yrs on this earth that I feel worthy. I’m worthy of finding out if he wants me, worthy of finding out if I want him. Ready for rejection and shitting myself at the exciting prospect of progress!
Love you Matt and your lessons and your over – delivery!

  17. Katie says:

Great advice as usual, Matt, and a much needed reality check for me right now.

I want to like who likes me but it is hard to tell how much you have to ‘let them know’ vs. ‘they aren’t interested’. I tend to cross that line and not realize I’ve crossed into ‘he’s now knows you’re into him but he’s not interested so move along.’

Will he come after me at that point if he’s interested? Or should I take his continued flirting as a sign to keep putting out signals? This is the type of batty BS thinking that makes me second-guess my awesomeness!

Ps. Your hair looks incredible like that.

  18. Agostinha Jacinto says:

OMG…so many thigs…first of all…WHAT HAPPEN to your hair!?!?!? :) you are still sexy! Lucky you are always a cutie, and so right about the thing…only like people who likes you…i agreed…the lady is so WEIRD…what was in her GLASSES!?!?!?!
weird video ever…but you are so insightfull! :) KISSES!THANKS MATT*

  19. Laura says:

Love your wisdom Matt! And that you finally made your “nice” hair “with a an edge”!
